GENERAL COMMENTS

"My intentions was to go to a few dealerships. I had a few cars in mind and the Altima was one of them. I went in to the dealership and test drove this car. It was the first car of the day but my fiancee and I fell in love with this car. We got the 2.5 (fuel economy) with the special edition package. This car has all of the options I could possibly want. I owned a 2003 Olds Alero before this and what a transition! Needless to say I walked out of the dealership owning a Nissan Altima that day."

"The Altima 3.5SL is probably the finest car I’ve had at any price. The smooth and powerful drive train is perfectly matched with an excellent transmission. The chassis provides excellent handling and braking dynamics with sharp steering responses making the Altima very nimble and fun to drive. The ride is smooth, comfortable and quiet without being floaty. Inside, the cabin is roomy, comfortable and well appointed with many luxury touches. It's unusual instrumentation is illuminated in an attractive orange and the dashboard design is pleasingly different. Furnishings are constructed of soft high quality materials and are well assembled. The well placed controls operate with a feeling of quality and precision. The Bose sound system is absolutely amazing and includes a 6 CD changer. The Altima glides along with the smoothness and comportment of a luxury car. Everything is tightly constructed - there are no rattles or strange noises and the body feels as tight as a tank. Its advanced drive-by-wire throttle control system operates without hesitation, as it should. The 3.5 liter VQ motor is a wonderfully powerful engine turning this good-looking family sedan into an absolute rocket ship. Torque and power is always underfoot, and the free-revving and responsive powertrain make the Altima an absolute blast to drive! This may be an ageing design now, but it is still a very attractive and solidly built vehicle with an excellent powerplant, all for a very reasonable price. "

"Solid ride that I feel safe in. Also test drove the Sonata and felt like I was in a tin can."

"Before purchase I compared this vehicle with the Pontiac G6 and the Dodge Caliber. Of the 3 this one was in the middle on responsiveness to acceleration and on handling (the G6 was a little better). For all other 'points', the Altima wins hands down. As much or more room than most luxury sedans, great style, great creature comforts, loaded out from the factory and a smooth, smooth ride!"

"What can I say, I drove the 4 cyl, it was ok, on a whim I took out my 3.5 SE with a standard transmission, WOW, it was sold before the test drive was done. The car is a beautiful machine, silent, elegant and what can I say the ladies like it. But as soon as you delve into that rich powerband of the V6 at about 4000RPM, you forget all about that and just wanna be a hooligan. I live in Canada, near the Rockies and let me tell you, short of a BMW M5 I have yet to experience a car that can provide more fun per kilometre. The gas mileage is ok, I average about 9L/100K on the highway and about 11L/100K in the city. If you really like the Accord/Camry twins then you will never understand this car, its no cookie cutter 4 door breadbox, its truly a poor mans BMW, but you dont need a winter car like the BMW owner. The only things I want to change on this car are lower spring, stiffer shocks, stiffer anti-sway bars and some mufflers that will let the VQ35 breathe. You have not heard an engine till youve heard this V6 at about 6500 rpm, thats why I want to let it sing. The suspension for me is way too soft, too much body lean with too soft of suspension combine to give this car a bouncy at the limit behavior. Also, Nissan, for the love of god and all that good, give this car a decent set of tires, the stock ones are just horrible and how about a LSD option, 200 horses at the front wheels+extreme cornering angles=a smoking and squealing inside tire. Again, the modifications are needed only if you are a spirited driver and young enough to call the stock ride too soft. Anyone of the more aged persuasion would be very happy with the stock car. "

GENERAL LIKES

"Amazing Fuel Efficiency" "Super-smooth, super-fast and eager engine. Attractive exterior. Unusual interior design. Comfortable seats, roomy interior. Solid build quality. Well-sorted electronic systems. " "The look" "The ride" "The Drivetrain, Exterior and Interior"

GENERAL DISLIKES

"I like the whole car!" "Ummm...." "Turn ratio - it seems every turn is a 3 point turn. My Xterra is much better." "The stereo controls could be a little friendlier and closer for the driver from the panel" "The tires are HORRIBLE, if you have any kind of blood left in your veins boys, change them, I did and the car is at another level"
