Make sure all the VW Service Bulletins are installed if you are buying a 2004

I wish I could be more positive about this review. The best thing about this purchase is the outstanding service I have received from our dealer. They have really tried hard to make us happy. I bought this vehicle 18 months ago and have put 17K miles on it. The following is a list of problems we have had to date. 1 Wood grain on interior cracked everywhere 2 Surface is flaking off all dials on radio, climate control dials and the headlight switch. 3 Low tire pressure comes on for no reason 4 Inside 2 inches of both front tires are bald after 17k miles 5 Battery has died and then magically started working again 6 Remote lock only works from 1 foot away 7 Rear Cargo light doesn't shut off 8 Rear windshield wiper doesn't work 9 Rear hatch won't lock 10 Vehicle status display is intermittent Now for the good news - The Dealer has replaced the wood panels and flaking knobs. The dead battery was fixed by a VW service bulletin The remote locks will be fixed this week by another VW service bulletin The problem with the status display, rear hatch lock, cargo light and rear windshield wiper are all due to a defective latch that is another VW service bulletin After all this, I still love this SUV and am thinking about a 2005 V8
