What's New for the 2005 Lamborghini Murcielago?
A roadster version of the Lamborghini Murcielago is the big news for 2005. Its running hardware is the same as the coupe and possesses just about equal levels of performance capability. To compensate for the lack of a fixed roof, Lamborghini installed chassis reinforcements and auto-deploying rollover bars. The roadster also has a small fabric top that can be manually deployed in the case of inclement weather. The only other notable change to the Murcielago this year is a brake hardware upgrade (i.e., bigger) for both the coupe and roadster.

Advantages of the 2005 Lamborghini Murcielago:

• Big V12 that makes 580 hp and a great accompanying soundtrack
• Extroverted styling and presence
• All-wheel drive
• Low production ensures exclusivity

Objections to the 2005 Lamborghini Murcielago:

• Stability control is not available
• Poor visibility and unwieldy at low speeds
• Flimsy top for the roadster

The Lamborghini Murcielago is still the ultimate pin-up super car. Wide, flashy bodywork, prominent vents and scoops, big V12 engine – and the new roadster version was indeed the perfect car for the producers of the movie Batman Begins to choose as Bruce Wayne's playboy car. That the Murcielago is not particularly practical, and that its little brother, the Gallardo, is a better car overall, is mostly irrelevant. Those of sufficient financial security who want to be seen and enjoy the traditional Lamborghini experience will have no problem with the car's approximately $300,000 asking price.
